Stick to what works! You can waste a great deal of time playing with a new package which will do pretty much what your existing software will do, or trying something that has novelty value but no significant business use. Invariably something that was going to be 'just a 10 minute look' turns into hours or longer, and can sometimes have a knack of screwing up your computer when you need it most!

Take regular backups onto CD or DVD. If necessary make two copies if you work from different locations and keep one with you - that way you have all the files you need without clogging up your hard disc. For marketing material (such as PDFs, graphics etc) you can even use your web site as a backup and make the material available to your customers at the same time.
